Can you give a brief overview of the current brokerage market?
There has been a stabilisation of the brokerage market in the 20 to 40 m segment over the last 12 months. The pricing has reached a sustainable level and those that are keen to sell have had to take on board the price correction that has been witnessed.

Although the market is operating at a reduced level to that seen prior to the financial crisis the enquiry and transaction level has risen significantly with a confidence returning to this important market segment. Yachts of 40-50 m are now selling - but this is a buyers’ market and the prices being realised are not making sellers jump for joy. The 50 m + market has been difficult and slow since September 2010 - with only a handful of brokerage deals occurring in this category in the past 9 months.
Are any market trends emerging?
There has been a move towards a more understated style with a reduced focus on high speed performance. Clients are looking to increased fuel efficiency and range combined with a consideration towards a “greener” approach to yachting. Value for money is an essential ingredient once again this year.
Can you give some prime examples of the yachts you have on display?
Although we are still finalising the line up Oceanstyle are looking to potentially have Blink, a 41m Cantieri di Pisa and Matanthar, a 30m Heesen at the Cannes Boat Show.
How important are boat shows like Cannes in your marketing plans?
The Cannes Show is a very important date in the Oceanstyle marketing calendar and features strongly in their planning throughout the year. The exposure of the yachts to potential purchasers is invaluable and these events afford the buyer the opportunity to crystallize their thoughts with regards to the yacht that they are looking to acquire.
