Can you give a brief overview of the current brokerage market?
The market is following 2010’s trend, although less spectacular as last year the market bounced back after the crisis with a very high turn up and an increase of 24% on the units sold and an  impressive 58% increase on the sales value. During 2011 we expect the rather dynamic increase of 10 to 11% in the number of transactions whilst still generating a progression of business value around 20%.

Are any market trends emerging?
This autumn’s boat shows will highlight any new trends, although we believe they will be similar to 2010’s i.e. the most performing segments remaining the 24-30m for the number of transactions (+35%), and the «superstar» bracket: the 50m+ which remains highly successful with +60% transactions in 2010 compared to 2009 (high above 2007 figures and with a business value which almost doubled between 2009 and 2010). Both segments already show figures over the times before the crisis.
However the two other segments (30m-40m and 40m-50m) still show a very good progression. We will closely watch the 40-50m segment as it has shown a great 23% progression in 2010 in the number of transactions and demonstrated great resistance since the average value remained sturdy during the crisis. Overall it shows a good level of transactions at good prices; I would say that this segment will show remarkable results in 2011 with probably the best progression in the number of transactions.

Can you give some prime examples of the yachts you have on display?
We actually have 3 yachts confirmed : Idyllwild (2005 Benetti 44.2m), Maca (2008 Benetti Sail Division 28.30m) and Aquila (2008 Sanlorenzo 27.60m). Last year at this time we had the same numbers confirmed, and we ended-up with a total of 11 central agencies displayed at the Festival. We are very confident that numbers will significantly pick up as Cannes relies a lot on the availability of central agencies, as well available for charter, and some of them are still busy at this time of the year chartering for guests.
As every year we will display a very high quality of yachts, with a great variety of units in terms of size and type. This should be a very interesting opportunity for many customers to visit us.

How important are boat shows like Cannes in your marketing plans?
Cannes is, to us, the best show in Europe for the segments between 24m and 50m. This differs from Monaco Yacht Show as we mostly display and sell yachts over 50m there. This year we are investing more in marketing efforts for better visibility of our central agencies displayed at the Port Canto. As you know we have a very large private area for CNI’s central agencies, all berthed next to each other, with a VIP private tender service with the addition of a tender pontoon on our private pier, a 100m² booth with a business office, bar ...etc.
Come to see us!
